Please review these instructions to prepare for your trial appointment

Your Trial Appointment is not a sales pitch in disguise. This is a real discussion of your health complaints to determine if you are the best patient for me and if I am the best doctor for you.

Goals for the Trial Appointment:

  • Determine if I have the medical knowledge and skills to help you.

  • Determine if your goals and expectation align with my approach to health.

  • Determine if you are ready, able, and willing to do the work I may ask of you. If you aren’t, then working with me will be a waste of both our time and your money.

To do your part in reaching these goals, please review the information below prior to your appointment. If you have questions prior to your appointment, complete the form below.

Check your Expectations

If we are going to do great work together, it is really important that we are on the same page. If you are like many of the people who come to see me, you have already begun to debunk a lot of myths and beliefs about health and health care. However, even the alternative medicine world can perpetuate a lot of these false ideas about healing (usually for profit). So let’s do a quick reality check.

  • There are no quick fixes when it comes to your health. There is no magic supplement that will take care of all your problems.

  • You will have to change your diet, habits, thought patterns, and behaviors. This can be done at your pace but you have to accept that change has to happen.

  • I will not heal you. Only you can heal you. This is code for YOU have to do the work. I do carry a lot of the mental load for you (much more so than any other doctor) but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much work I do. If you are not doing the work, you are not healing.

  • It will take time to heal. Think about how long you have been unwell. For most of you, it has been a while (maybe decades) so it may take months and months and months of hard work to heal. Not all of this healing will necessarily be done with me. I just want you to be mentally prepared for how long it might take for you to feel the way you want to feel.

  • Sometimes, you feel worse while you are healing. So don’t expect to just continuously feel better during treatment.

  • Healing can be inconvenient and uncomfortable. If you expect it to be smooth sailing, the smallest challenge will throw you off course or have you return to the safe harbor of old habits. For example, if you expect changing your diet to be easy and convenient, if you are not willing to sit with the discomfort of figuring out new meals, setting aside time to cook more, or trying different foods, you will just revert back to your old dietary habits that got your health into trouble in the first place.

  • Ladies, you HAVE to prioritize your health. This is probably the biggest obstacle to your health journey. So many of you are so busy doing everything and being everything for everyone around you that there is nothing left for you. So you have to be willing to set boundaries, say no, and use your energy and time for yourself. This is not a selfish act despite what you may think or feel!

Review Pricing

It is important to note that my billing model is not based on time. It is based on service. Because only part of the work happens during appointments. Unlike other doctors, I spend a lot of time working on your case outside of your appointment. This includes actually reviewing your intake paperwork (as you have probably noticed, most doctors, even NDs, only look at that during the appointment), reviewing medical records (if you send me 800 pages of medical records, I do indeed review every word), compiling a very detailed treatment plan so you don’t forget anything said during the appointment (you have never seen treatment plans like mine), answering all your questions outside the appointment in detail, researching, and more.

Health Empowerment Program: $2000

  • $200 down payment due at Initial Evaluation

  • 6 monthly payments of $300, starts 30 days after Initial Evaluation

  • This includes Initial Evaluation, Lab Review, and three Follow Ups

  • Price includes appointments, email support, virtual visits, online resources, supplement discount, and all case management (prescription refills, medical records request, coordinating care, research, etc.). Price does NOT include labs and supplements.

  • If your case requires more time, I offer an extension for $1000, paid in 5 monthly installments of $200. This includes 3 follow up visits and all additional support during your continued care.

Check Your Out-of-Network Benefitis

If you have an HMO health plan or Medicare, out-of-network/naturopathic visits will not be covered. You can skip this step.

If you have a PPO, do the following:

  • Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.

  • Ask if you have out-of-network coverage.

  • Find out if you have a deductible for out-of-network coverage and what percentage they will cover for out-of-network costs.

  • Find out if they will cover wellness visits, evaluation & management visits or both (this is important for me to know!).

  • Find out if they will cover labs ordered by out-of-network providers, if you have to meet a deductible, and what percentage they will cover.

  • For labs, ask if they have a preferred out-of-network lab.

  • Ask how you can submit your claim, making sure to get the correct forms and mailing address (they may tell you to have the doctor submit the claim, but you need to, so be sure to get all the info you need).

  • If they ask what a naturopathic doctor is, tell them a naturopathic doctor is a licensed primary care provider in the state of California.

You may also be able to use your HSA or FSA to pay for services. Contact your insurance company to learn more about how to use your money to pay for appointments, labs, and even prescribed supplements.

If you have out-of-network coverage, I will bill you at the time of service so you can maximize your reimbursement. You will be provided with a superbill with the necessary insurance codes and an invoice to submit to your insurance company. If your insurance company has additional forms, please bring those to the appointment. Make sure that the insurance company directs reimbursement to you and not to me.
